TEJAS Journal of Technologies and Humanitarian Science (TJTHS) is committed to preserving the integrity, independence, and credibility of scholarly publishing. The journal expects authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial staff to disclose any relationship or circumstance that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their professional judgment during the submission, peer review, or publication process. Transparency in disclosing competing interests strengthens confidence in published research and supports fair editorial decision-making.

Purpose of the Policy

This policy establishes the journal's expectations regarding the disclosure and management of competing interests. Appropriate disclosure enables the Editorial Office to evaluate potential influences objectively while ensuring that editorial decisions remain independent, unbiased, and based solely on academic merit.

Competing Interests

A competing interest may arise from financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that have the potential to affect the preparation, evaluation, or publication of scholarly work. Such circumstances should be disclosed whenever they could reasonably be viewed as influencing the objectivity of research or editorial decisions.

Examples of competing interests may include:

• Research grants, sponsorships, or other financial support.
• Employment, consulting activities, or advisory appointments.
• Ownership of patents, intellectual property, or commercial rights related to the research.
• Institutional affiliations or collaborative relationships connected with the submitted work.
• Personal or professional relationships that may influence independent judgment.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to provide complete and accurate disclosure of any competing interests associated with the submitted manuscript. Funding sources and any relationships relevant to the research should be identified clearly at the time of submission.

When no competing interests exist, authors are encouraged to include an appropriate declaration indicating that no conflicts have been identified.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts objectively and disclose any circumstance that could compromise, or appear to compromise, their impartiality. A reviewer should decline the invitation to review whenever an independent assessment cannot reasonably be maintained.

Reviewers are also expected to preserve confidentiality and refrain from using unpublished information for personal, academic, or commercial benefit.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining an impartial editorial process and should avoid involvement in decisions where competing interests may exist. When appropriate, editorial responsibility may be transferred to another qualified editor to ensure an independent evaluation of the manuscript.

Management of Disclosed Interests

Where a competing interest is disclosed, the Editorial Office will assess its relevance and determine the most appropriate course of action. Depending on the circumstances, the journal may request additional information, appoint an alternative reviewer or editor, or implement other measures necessary to protect the fairness and integrity of the publication process.

Failure to Disclose

The omission of relevant competing interests may be regarded as a breach of publication ethics. If an undisclosed competing interest is identified before or after publication, the journal may undertake an editorial assessment and apply appropriate corrective measures, including revision of disclosure statements, publication of editorial notices, or other actions considered necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
